ok anyone leet enough to help me
i am making a map with 'mafia' and he started it off with some stunt-track then he sent it to me, i extracted the map using RFA extractor 1.1 into my ED42 folder which has all the correct folders in and all the correct files from the tutorial on 'how to install editor42' on this website..
open the extracted folder where your map is, now enter the Textures folder, are there any Tx__x__ files there? If there is not then you can just copy some from a different map with the same size as yours. Thats why Ed42 cannot texture your map, there is no files to add the texture to.

And the texture format for BC is different than ED42...
DXT5 for ed42 and DXT3 for BC.. (Could be worng but the idea's there)
I have been unable to 'paint' textures in ED42 before because of this...
You could try doing a batch conversion of all your texture files to tga's and then re-convert back to dds using either paintshop/photoshop or better would be to use the terrain dds converter thingy that can be found on the planetbattlefield modding area. That should allow you to edit them in ED42 again...

at the moment i am looking like your avatar, and you were right the map was started in BC42 and i try to texture in ED42, so i just have to convert all my texture files in ED42 into .tga then save them all again as dds using photoshop then replace the textures alllready in my textures folder in my map in the ED42 folder with these ones that have been converted from dds to tga then back to dds again? i am confused as much as you are.. trust me! .. lol

probs why presston i try that program out flamin, it was mafia that started the map so he was the one that did it wrong ty guys should be able to work it now, if not i post here again ;p
