About a month ago I tried to dual boot my PC by puting an old HD in my computer and installed XP student edition on it. I figures out later that you can't do this unless u install XP first. So now I have been trying to get Vista working again but with no success. Microsoft says all I have to do is follow the steps on this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919529 , but It wont work. Heres what happens:
first of: E is where Vista is installed, C is wher XP is, and H is the Vista Disk
1. I start command prompt and it starts as C:\Documents and Settings\Josh P> 2. I type in prompt $ to clear it 3. I type H:\boot\Bootsect.exe /NT60 All *H is where the install disk is 4.It says:
H:\boot\Bootsect.exe /NT60 All Target volumes will be updated with BOOTMGR compatible bootcode.
Updated NTFS filesystem bootcode. The update may be unreliable since the volume could not be locked during the update: Access is denied.
Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes.
* Why Does it say Acess is denied???? 5. Then I put in: E is where vista is installed E:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit /create {ntldr} -d "Windows XP" The create command specified is not valid. Run "bcdedit /?" for command line assistance.
....and thats as far as I get. Please help me get Vista working agian so I can play IS82 I'm so tired of XP, I know this is really boring and u probably don't care, but I really don't wanna get an IT guy to fix it.Thanks

Be sure u type it 100% correct. Notice the spaces... H:\boot\ Bootsect.exe –NT60 All = H:\boot\[SPACE]Bootsect.exe[SPACE]–NT60 All Also looks like u forgot something here:
E:\Windows\system32\Bcdedit –create –d "Windows XP" Dunno if u forgot the {ntldr} ??
Oh, nvm. Its the e107 forum that doesnt write it.
Edit: Also have in mind that when booted up in Vista, it automatically makes the Vista drive into C: (Eventho its virtual)
