Last Month the Japanese try to retrive this mod a little bit more. They played in the at 2pm CET. At the moment the gametracker, com Server Monitorring is off. Hope soon they turn it on. The ranking seems to work.
We make a map.. maybe with a general terrain.. bumps, hills, roads, rivers etc etc.. a general 'world'..
Then we add upto 700 blank object spawn templates to the map.
We add very simple objects to this map (a bit like the start gate spawning object in deathrace but without health/damage/ able to die)
All these objects are essentially spawners of all the stunt pieces.. the disco.. fences... etc etc .. as many things as people would need for the average map (including any vehicle you like)
Everyone downloads this 'master map' map once.
we call it 'whoknowswhatthefookyegonnaget.rfa'
then the fun begins... people can make a map using any of the objects available in that 'master map' and any way you like.. you cannot change terrain.. just the static objects around the map (this would include invisible walls to help cut off areas on the terrain below)
this map is then made into a serverside patch and uploaded... then when anyone joins they will see the new layout. This works well for technical/challenge maps which consist of a lot of statics etc.
All you have to do is supply your staticobjects.con to an admin.. and they can convert the statics list into an objectspawns.con (simple batch file could do this in a second)
Simple as Pie. endless custom maps with no need to download anything.. just 'join server'
This could get really fun! I would be up for trying this one out for sure!
Ignignot: Hello, Carl, I am Ignignot, and this is Ur. Ur: I am Ur! Ignignot: We are Mooninites from the inner core of the Moon. Ur: You said it right! Ignignot: Our race is hundreds of years beyond yours.
It's the same principle although rather than cars we spawn statics and track etc. I can make some huge (like huuuge) mountain/rock statics which could be driven on and this would allow a very unique look to each map when combined together. This is basically trackmania interstate style hehe.
