Everytime I try to open bf1942 my dvd drive will whir for about 5 seconds then nothing will happen!?

Happened right after i compiled my canadaboys deathrace map into my folder, ill try taking it out...and I read somewhere that this guy showed his friend that you can open the .con - .init etc with notepad and then his game wouldn't work after he opened his rfa's with notepad....????????!?!?!?!?*pot

well, opening your rfas won't make a difference, if you edited core game content then yes it will matter, i'd reccommend trying to remove your map first, then if it works there's some error with your map, otherwise i'd just back up the map directory and reinstall.

This is caused by a corrupted rfa in either levels folder or somewhere else. Move the files you edited out of there and try again. You can NOT open rfa's with notepad, you can extract them using WinRFA and then edit the cons in notepad. Also remember correct paths when packing the rfa back up in WinRFA.

I have had this problem when I incorrectly packed a map, if your using winRFA, remember that bf1942 is the base.

it could be how you packed it rather than the program, but i've always used winRFA anyway

You can pack with winrfa....oh yea you can...never noticed that 'pack' button...hmmm........No matter what packing program i use, bf1942 won't start unless i get rid of the map i packed....must have something to do with what i coded.....

when using GmakeRFA use only 1 thread... i noticed that i using more threads (i was using 4) the map gets screwed...
