Have you wanted to have higher-quality recordings than software like ShadowPlay offers, without straining your hardware? This will show you how to do it. This requires a GTX 600 Series / Radeon 7700 Series GPU, or an AMD A10-5000 / Intel I-series 2000 CPU or newer.
• Download and Install OBS Studio. AMD users, also install this. Run OBS Studio, and add a Game Capture source.
• Click on Settings, then Output, and check "Enable Replay Buffer" for hot-keyed background recording. Enter the amount of pre-record time, and hit Apply. Change the Output Mode at the top to Advanced, and under the Recording tab, use a codec containing 'h264' for the video, and enter 130000 for the bitrate. Select the output folder, and set the audio codec to pcm_s24le. Select how many audio streams you want to record. Hit Apply.
• Click Audio on the left panel and change the Sample Rate to 48 KHz. If your recording is muted, change the Desktop Audio Device from Default to the input you're using.
• Click on Video on the left panel to change the Output Resolution and FPS.
• Click on Hotkeys, and set up your Recording hotkeys, and your Replay Buffer keys if you're using it.
• Click on Advanced, and change the colour format to I444 and the colour space to 709. If you're editing in Vegas, leave it at 601.
And you're done. To record multiple audio sources, exit to the main window, and click the gear icon next to 'Mixer'. You can adjust which audio source is assigned to each input. You can also download SRBeep to get audio notifications. The default sound can be changed in 'Program Files (x86)\obs-studio\data\obs-plugins\SRBeep'.
