Is that construction safe enough? Looks to me as if it would fold at the middle on impact. Any calculations done on this? Tubular frames are wildly strong, I know, but it looks strange, kinda. Well, it should be a fun ride xD. __________________
University of Alberta. Last year we placed 2nd in fuel economy and 5th in accelleration... now this car weighs 70lbs less!
It's very safe, for the autocrosses we do we only really see 60km/h, and at the front there is an impact block which we have to test so if we do crash we see no more then 20g's. Also the entire chassis is FEA'd and we have to follow a 200page rule book where every rule is based upon safety.
As to another fact. Our last car got 26mpg full throttle on the race track! Very very very few cars can claim that. __________________
