when i press the ` key, the command window ain't open. how to fix this?

you need to call your isp and request a full global interwebnet format of all their servers. That was the only fix for me. I helped them re-install xp on most of their machines though which may have helped persuade them. It's happened twice now.

However.. I also notice sometimes that the hud wont appear if I change gfx resolution mid game.. (even if I change it back again) so load up bf1942 again and I expect it will work.

Or restart.. thats a sure fire way to fix anything.

i didn't understand 1 word of that first paragraph. isn't there a simple cfg i can modify to get it working

bring on shrooms, the bf42 troubleshooter, for this job

You mean console? Its either the Â§ key or the one to the left of Z on your keyboard as far as I know.. If not, FlaMiN is right.
