trying to make aurora valley night, and darkening the ground textures with photoshop. problem is when i darken them even with the same params, they always come out non-uniform

You don't need to alter anything in PS do you? Mess around with light settings in init files should do it. I know I mad tsunami daylight that way. Should be as easy the other way around.
i would just adjust each image in PS and darken it.. ive done it before with deathrace.. if they are not uniform afterwards then it must be a weird kinda seting in PS... I normally use PSPro and dont have probs..
Maybe just rextexture it all in ed42... (you have sunlight settings etc) might seem like a big task but actually Alex just used some default terrain tex over the whole thing and then painted on some (pretty crappy) roads.. Huge lump of concrete for the airport and then the city.. which isnt particularly detailed. If you are using the map for CTF then you can get away with just removing some of the bases too.
Main thing is that if you retexture you can then change the sun (moon...) position and redo shadows etc for a slick finish.
CMON RUBBA! Make a map from scratch.. you have all the object skills (to perfection!) so try your hand at a map!!
The best maps are the ones where time has been taken to make it as perfect as poss.. you are a perfectionist so I'd like to see what you come up with.
well, i found the key item. it's a simple darkening of the detail.dds file in the textures folder.
lol, flamin. well, i can't really do much mapping, i'm in serious need of a reformat or a new pc. lol. bc42 still won't run on my pc, nor ed42. i seriously doubt i could ever do a map as good as u, flame. lol
