computer low on virtual memory

my pc is really slow and i get an error sometimes saying pc low on virtual memory, yet i have plenty of hard drive space left, what should i do? !?

How much RAM do you have? You might need to get more. Restart your computer and run this: http://ccleaner.com with all the options selected. Let me know if you still get this error once you do all that. Also, check what processes are taking up a lot of memory.

Did you set it manually? Let the system decide amount of diskspace itself.

How long do you keep your computer on, when was the last time you restarted?

Have you defragged lately? cleared temp internet files?

I got this error way back on windows 98 when I had 32mb of ram and the game needed 64 minimum. You need more RAM, not HD space.

I had that playing bf2 on 512... now I have 1024 and no more this error

The error is always there when I close any fps,including halo but i have 768mb or ram.Also I get no problems while running game it just says I am when I close it lol.
