Last Month the Japanese try to retrive this mod a little bit more. They played in the at 2pm CET. At the moment the gametracker, com Server Monitorring is off. Hope soon they turn it on. The ranking seems to work.
Hi, I work at Kmart as a checkout associate. In English, I'm a Kmart cashier. This is my first ever job and I'm going to tell you all about my experiences with Kmart.
First off, the first thing I do when I walk into work, I punch in my clock number on register 8, then walk over to the service desk. There they have me sign my initials next to the register number I am assigned to, then I go to the register. At the register I sign into the computer, and when I log in, my till (cash box) pops open, Now I must unwrap the paper that contains the coins, I make sure I have 30 dollars worth in 5 dollar bills, then I make sure I have 52 one dollar bills. If so, which is always, I close the till (cash box) and I turn on my light to say I'm open.
It is a very simple process, the customer comes up and we are supposed to greet them nicely, I always say Hello how are you doing today? I take the items, and scan then, the machine beeps and then I bag them. The customer pays either credit/debit or with cash. When the transaction is over, I say: Have a nice day. Then they walk out the store.
Sound easy? Yes.. But this is Kmart and I haven’t told you everything.
Kmart was almost closed down entirely; Sears bought out Kmart so Kmart will keep its name and continue. Though Kmart is still in debt.
Kmart is extremely unorganized here. I'm serious every 10th person, some Item is not ringing up properly, either the buy one get one free ordeal is not ringing up, or the customer doesn't save her 10 cents and starts yelling at you and holds up the line for 30 minutes for 10 cents. I have to get the manager and it takes a while to sort out the confusion. Finally the customer will be either pleased with my actions on the situation, or will continue to be grumpy.
Kmart is no Wal-Mart, but Kmart still has many great prices. I don't even shop at Kmart. But some people will buy years worth of clothes, food and other crap that is found in the store.
One lady, checked out so many items, clothes, food, clearance items, socks shoes, general merchandises. It took me 30 minutes to ring up all her items. Luckily there weren't any problems with her items. Putting shirts in bags is hard because the hangars get in the way. Moving fast is essential to making everyone happy.
Sometimes, customers are extremely picky, they want me to freaking fold clothes before putting it in the bag, they say it's going to wrinkle, taking the time to fold the clothes slows down my progress and lowers my store rank (will describe later) Seriously, the clothes wrinkle anyways! Then they get upset at you for no reason.
The other day I was checking out a customer that had 3 items: socks, some shirts. After ringing up her Items I said is that all? Politely. The customer had her hand below the desk so I couldn't see what was in her hand; she then says in a mean way, oh did you get my belt? She pulls her hand out from behind the desk to then I now see a belt visible in her hand. I said oh I’m sorry I didn't see it. I ring it up, and she complains to me, well you know you need to pay attention more ok? She then slides her debit card angrily and we complete the transaction. Good grief she expects me to have x-ray vision. I even said Is that all!
Some people try to cheat you. It's very easy to catch them. Sometimes customers will rip off the tags off of clothes and stick other price tags from the clearance department. They expect me to think this certain shirt is 1 dollar and the machine rings up seven dollars. Obviously they never win, but it bothers me how people try to cheat others. Kmart is in serious debt.
Oh I forgot to say, Since Sears bough out Kmart, Kmart now has Sears cards, after ringing up the items we must say May I put this on your Sears card? Only a handful of people have the Sears card, and then I must say do you want to apply for one? They always say no. But one of the managers is really pushing me to get a Sears card sold. It's hard because I don't want to upset people by bugging them a lot. Anyways the Sears card, every $200 you spend you earn 10$ toward your future Kmart purchases plus no interest and something else for 90 days if the transaction totals in $99. Also some other things I need to memorize better. It kind of bugs me to say it because when I say May I put this on your Sears card, the customer gets confused and says No, uhh wait I have to have a sears card? Forget this! I'm never shopping here again. I then calmly say No you don't need a Sears card. Asking for a Sears card embarrasses me.
I work 5 hour shifts. Have you ever tried to stand in front of a register for 5 hours without being allowed to sit? It hurts my lower back, because I have to bend over a lot to put items in bags. Managers won't allow us to have stools. It's horrible. I wish we could sit occasionally. I do exercise; I run a lot and lift weights. So I am physically fit.
Registers 2 and 4 have narrow isles, the carts barely fit in-between. I can't tell you how many times customers yell at me for a narrow isle. I didn't make it narrow, and then they complain more then they didn't save $1.
Oh how I've messed up many times. Sometimes I press cash tender (pay with cash) instead of EFT Tender (pay with debit/credit) and it opens the cash register and then I mess up the transaction. The customer gets angry and I have to re ring up all the items and get a total void on a receipt. I haven’t messed up lately, I've only messed up the first few days of work, but customers never forgive you.
Sometimes when an Item doesn't have a barcode or a UPC number (Which is really useful when an item doesn't have a barcode.) I have to lock my register go clear across the store as fast as I can, write down the UPC number of the item on the shelf, then run back, enter in the UPC number and ban the item rings up. Other customers will get impatient with me. But what else can I do?
Strange people shop at Kmart, transvestites, people with no necks, mental people; it’s really neat to see how people are so different. But these unique people seem to be the ones with problems. The mental people will yell at you for no reason. I just ignore it. But it makes me look bad.
Other checkout associates in the other registers are around the same age as me. We like to play games. We will speak in different tones and accents. It’s hard to speak in a gay voice without cracking up. But this really scares a customer, so I don't do the gay voice.
We play rock papers scissors, the winner goes on break first and the loser goes on break after.
I always get owned when my buddy on register 1 says to a customer, sir, he can take you on register 3. The customer goes to register 3, where I am, so I have to check him out instead of him.
Sometimes the manager tells us to go up and down isles and straighten items and pick them off of the floor. KIDS PLEASE PUT YOUR TOYS AWAY. The toys department is SO UNORGANISED, and I have to take my time to place them in the right spot. This takes hours to do. My buddy had to stay an hour overtime putting toys away correctly. He wasn't happy. So kids, please put toys away!
Being a Kmart cashier is fun, but there are many problems. But it's ok. I still have fun being a Kmart cashier. At least I get paid.
Edit: Always make sure the item you want has a price tag or a UPC number, also don't be fustrated at the cashier if the price isn't right.

Kmart does have weird people. We only have one in the area, but when I went to Puerto Rico, they are all over the place. They have a huge Super Kmart with three stories, its awesome, But lots of weird people like Shrooms said.
