Last Month the Japanese try to retrive this mod a little bit more. They played in the at 2pm CET. At the moment the gametracker, com Server Monitorring is off. Hope soon they turn it on. The ranking seems to work.
I have tried a lot of mouse mats in my time, when your a first person shoot maniac as I used to be, you are always searching for the perfect mouse and mat combo.
I found my best ever mouse mat a while back, but I thought id share it with interstate people.
It now comes in several versions, I have the original, now called Megamat, which is so huge that it actually hangs over the back of the slideout keyboard part of the desk. Theres now a 'Gamers' version with same width, but less height which would solve this, but the extra overhang does come in handy for cushioning the edge of the wood desk. If you measure out the size's given on the site you will see just how big this mat is.
This mat has lasted me well over 6 months, and the soft texture gives good optical accuracy, and comfort on the hand, and its so large you find yourself off the desk before you go off the mat.
Even now after its worn a bit, all ive done is rotate it so that im using the other part which the mouse never touches, and its like new again.
So go buy one !

Heres some of the other mouse mats ive tried.
Standard Soft Mouse Mat:
Tend to be small, wear fast, and also thick so that height interferes with your wrist.
Standard Plastic Mats:
Offer very little grip and dont perform well on opticals. Also tend to suffer from bending. Plastic edge will rub against your wrist.
Holographic Mats:
They look cool, but dont get them, the little ridges needed for the effect causes a squeeling sound as the mouse moves over it, and suffer the problems of the standard plastic mat.
Everglide Giganta ( smoke optical version ):
Offered great accuracys, and worked fine for a month, but got worn quickly, especially if you tried to clean dirt off. The result is an uneven surface. The curved shape mean that I would come off the mat sometimes. Also sticks to your arm in when its hot weather.
Ratzpad:
Again suffered mouse mouse movent and cleaning to leave an unpredictable surface. Also did not perform well with optical mouse. I found the curved wrist part uncomfortable.
Icepad:
The frosted glass did give a smooth surface, but the size was far too small, and was uncomfortable on the wrist. Also the 'sssssshhhhhh' sound made from mouse movement got quickly annoying.
