I personally pick the zune, because of the screen being 40% bigger, and I have over 4000 songs... which with an ipod scroll wheel gets annoying so now I can swipe and let the list fly to brag(the zune goes vertical or horizontal) , or I can just hold down a button so my thumb doesnt shrivel up and make me eat it(you can click too) . Also I like that it takes wmv files, and wma files. I think its software is also superior because I can add a whole folder for it to look in, and all its subfolders and it will automatically add any content that I have added to my computer to the library. Some say its too big.... I say lift some weights or dont be tiny, because it fits in my pocket fine. And its big enough that if I drop it at night in my yard or at a party I can easily find it, if someone steps on it(its happened) it doesnt crack but that hasnt happened repeat times so I wouldnt know. Its earbuds have magnets which not only look cool, but work well so it doesnt wrap around a seatbelt or something. The 80 gig comes with soundproof earbuds that by themselves would cost $40, I think thats a big plus. Some say its a cheap knockoff of the ipod, I say its competition, and one hell of a good competitor at that. edit:Also for free on the zune website with the new 4gig 8gig and 80 gigs they will laser engrave any of 800 artworks and 3 lines of text for free, with free US shipping

I got an ipod, it plays music, and my videos, so I'm happy, I dont care about the stupid features of the zune, the point is for the listening and the watching.
I don't think people really care, so you can stop spamming the other threads with your zune

I have personally found the zune 80 to not be very pleasant to the ear. a lack of bass and an increase in treble made it painful to listen to after a short time period.
my friend had a 5g ipod which he allowed me to try out, and it sounded just perfect. the bass was good, the treble was fine, and the eq wasn't activated. i switched it to bass booster and the bass was almost on par with my creative card. not to push the zune away, because it is a great player, but without an equalizer the sound just isn't there for me. as shrooms mentioned, the extra features such as the radio are un-necessary. no one really listens to the radio these days since the reception is poor and the music is re-runs from 4 minutes ago.
the zune hd won't likely be a practical improvement, as it will probably lack an equalizer like its predecessor. even with hd radio and all of those features, it would still leave much to be desired in terms of sq. this is just my general preference, but be aware that i'm a bit of a basshead. you will probably quite enjoy the zune if it suits your needs.
i am considering buying a 6.5g ipod classic, but I have read that it uses a different sound chip than the 5g. can anyone inform me on how the 6.5g compares to the 5g, in terms of bass and treble?

My friend regrets he even considered buying the Zune. Sure the screen is bigger, and if you are going to watch movies and such on it, then go with it. He just found it lacking, because it had no good software to use it with. Also, he dropped it from 6 inches and the screen shattered inside.
End of cons.

I still prefer my year-old Sony Network Walkman NW-S705F, for it's superior sound quality, over anything else I've ever listened to, today. I only use my iPhone's iPod function because I just don't like carrying around too many things at once, and I've never been truly happy with the iPod EQ. But I still break out the Walkman, every now and then.

LOL, I'm sure everyone knows what I'll say and why it's better. Though, to give credit the new Zune HD looks nice, but still doesn't compare to the iPod Touch
