Here you can see the googlebot at the bottom being respectful and just using one ip to catalogue the site, where as the yahoo inktomi is clearly in a hurry to leave.

 For search engines to get information they have to crawl websites.

Here you see one ( google ) use one connection to search the site

The other ( yahoo ) uses 13 connections to search the site

So often people have to end up banning search engines like yahoo since they can cause site slowdown or use up excessive bandwidth.

Only really of interest to people who into the more technical site of the web
