Um... not exactly.
1. System RAM is not addressed the same as video RAM. It used to be, ten years ago. Nowadays, there are graphic cards with hardware acceleration, and that changed that. 2. Nowadays, unless you're happy with EGA colors or something, you need to use special commands to upload anything into VRAM. Which command depends on your system, of course. On OpenGL, glBufferData and glTextureImage2D are possible examples. 2b. Storing normal stuff in your VRAM is possible, but not useful, as getting it in and out is a pain in the ass, while in system memory it's automatic. 3. Virtual RAM and system RAM are different from the operating system's point of view, but an actual running application won't know the difference and just let the OS swap things in an out. It's addressed using the very same pointers.

my laptop has 1gb of RAM, and a 128mb gfx card. but another 128mb of the RAM is used for gfx, making 256 in total, but that then leaves even less RAM when gaming. thats why i need 2gb of RAM

Come on. I don't do vegetables, you should know that. I feel it compromises my ethical integrity to talk about things I am not an expert of. For some issues, such as computers or trains, I can easily suppress that feeling and say any crap without ever bothering to check for facts, but turnips are too far out of my comfort zone for that.
